This role serves as the primary contact for the client and, as such, requires excellent communication, organizational skills, leadership, and mature judgment.  This role also serves as the primary contact for contractors and consultants for key issues, in particular those related to contracts and schedules.  This role also interacts with all members of the firm and requires daily problem solving, time management, multi-tasking and a great attitude under
pressure.  Frequently works on multiple projects at a time.   

Reports To: Principals, Managing Director, Director of Operations

Roles & Responsibilities: 


  • Mentor and manage team members in areas such as time management and developing client relationships
  • Create and fosters strong teamwork & project team culture, and is a resource for team
  • Ensure that teams have the resources and support to provide superior service to our clients
  • Oversee multiple projects and /or facilities concurrently
  • Work with the Project Designer and Project Architect to provide leadership to the team and client
  • Ensure project goals and design intent is met at each stage of the project
  • Promoting teamwork

Client Relationship

  • Lead communication, goal setting, and problem solving with client on all areas of a project
  • Develop strong and lasting relationships with clients
  • Cultivate opportunities for new projects with existing clients
  • Develop regular status reports for client updates

Project Delivery

  • Manage client and serve as the day to day point of contact for the Owner
  • Manage all phases of a project from programming/conceptual design through construction and close-out in accordance with established basis of design statement, budget, and schedule
  • Develop project budget, schedule, man-power and resource requirements
  • Manage the financial performance of a project
  • Lead or assist Principal in contract negotiation with the client
  • Solicit consultant proposals & qualifications
  • Negotiate consultant scopes and fees
  • Oversee development of consultant contracts
  • Review and approves consultant invoices
  • Review project invoicing
  • Manage issues with governing agencies
  • Manage documentation & correspondence of project related issues and communications
  • Lead the project design and engineering team
  • Coordinate with client provided consultants & resources
  • Certify Contractor Pay applications as required
  • Develop or assist the Principal in developing probable construction costs
  • Participate in development of RFP and RFQ proposals
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Director for project related marketing & promotional material

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Licensed Architect in the State of California
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience (preferably in healthcare)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent professionalism and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently.  Must have sound judgement and understanding of when to seek support from Principals
  • Ability to work on multiple project and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically
  • Ability to anticipate problems and initiate mitigation measures
  • Working knowledge of REVIT software, AutoCAD, and BIM processes
  • Experience working with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development
  • (OSHPD)
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural drafting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project
  • Working knowledge of detailing, building materials, codes and construction
