The VALBHS Master Plan Site/Space Utilization Study is a multi-phased planning study to identify revitalization and improvement efforts to the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System campus.

Over the course of 10 weeks, PDA was in full production, working closely with engineering consultants, IMEG and Gibson Transportation, to deliver Phase 1 to the VA, which provides an overview of all of the existing campus elements.

As a vital part of the Long Beach community, the VAHLBS employs more than 2,200 full-time employees and provides healthcare for more than 50,000 military personnel and veterans. As such, the extensive 100-acre campus is comprised of over 50 buildings, housing both inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, diagnostic and treatment, laboratory, and various other support functions. The improvement study will build upon the ongoing renovation and development efforts for the campus in order to deliver state of the art care, and advance research and training for the VAHLBS.

We look forward to initiating Phase 2, which will include an analysis of our campus assessment and conceptual design. This subsequent phase will culminate in a five and 10-year plan for the campus, continuing the VALBHS’ 74-year legacy of supporting our nations finest.
